One Friday night in the summer, I’ll be lounging in the back of a rented moving van in the parking lot of a motorsports park. There, I’m writing free verse poetry or playing the NYT Wordle. The next day I’m pushing my limits riding my sports motorcycle, blazing around the track.
I was raised in the traditional Midwest. Since my childhood I’ve traveled from Spain to Morocco to Serbia and beyond.
My good-girl roots are infused with lessons from traveling the world and a daring thirst for trying anything once.
Which is why I love what I do.
We might enjoy a new restaurant across town or new city across the continent. I’m fascinated by connecting with people who are different from me, to see what I can learn and challenge the rules by which I live. And working for myself allows me the freedom to expand as I grow. Another time, we’ll wake up to waves crashing and sunshine peeking through the blackout curtains. The cool sheets feel refreshing on our skin— sun-kissed from the day before. We slide back into bed after brushing our teeth, and warm hands turn into warmer bodies and galloping heartbeats. Refreshed in all the ways, we being our day of hiking, snorkeling or sun-bathing together.
Ultimately, the buzzy, mental nagging of unfinished tasks is gone as you enjoy the experience of life.
